Baltimore Snaps Luttrell Streak at 21
Thursday, August 28th , 2025
The hitting streak that Toronto left fielder Jon Luttrell had kept going for 21 games was ended by the Baltimore Orioles. Luttrell was stymied over 5 at-bats, but the rest of his team picked him up, getting the 4-2 victory at Rogers Centre.
"Hitting streaks come and go," Luttrell said. "It did put a little pressure on me. It's hard to be natural at the plate with something like that always in the back of your mind. If it had to end, I'm glad it was in a win."
At present, Luttrell is batting .295 with 161 hits and 14 home runs. He has knocked in 55 runs and scored 81 times.

Rodrigo Banegas Wallops 3 Homers for Astros
Wednesday, August 27th , 2025
Houston Astros right fielder Rodrigo Banegas had a magnificent game against the Athletics, rocketing three balls out of Sutter Health Park to help the Astros win, 6-1.
"I got some good pitches to hit and I creamed them," he said after the game. "The first was a big, fat fastball and the last two were hanging curves. All three were mistakes."
For the game, Banegas went 4-for-5 with 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"There's a fine line between hitting home runs and line drives," Houston manager Jason Jones said later. "Seems like Rodrigo found his home run stroke today."
Rodrigo Banegas hit a three-run home run off Antonio Carrasco in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Antonio Carrasco in the 6th, struck out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Pete Jackson in the 9th.
This season, Banegas is batting .266 with 41 home runs. He has scored 75 runs and driven in 100.

Perez Packs a Wallop -- Hits 3 HR Against Rays
Wednesday, August 27th , 2025
It was a good day for the New York Mets and an exceptional one for Jose Perez. The 26-year-old left fielder sent three bombs out of the park to help the Mets beat the Tampa Bay Rays, 8-2, at Tropicana Field.
"When you're in the zone, the game really slows down," Perez said when asked about his performance later. "I couldn't even tell you what pitches were thrown. Today feels great, but it is a long season and tomorrow is another day."
For the day, he scored 4 times, drove in 3 runs and smacked 3 hits in 3 at-bats.
Jose Perez walked in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Cody Rye in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Cody Rye in the 6th, walked in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off David Martin in the 9th.
In his 2025 season totals, Perez has 10 home runs, .200 BA, .333 OBP, 16 RBIs and 23 runs scored.
