Bibriesca on Fire: 5-for-5 for Salem
Friday, July 17th , 2026
Salem center fielder Francisco Bibriesca had a fantastic day at the plate at Pelicans Grounds, knocking out 5 hits and pacing his club to a win, 3-1.
"It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," Bibriesca said after his 5-for-5 performance against the Pelicans. "No offense meant to Myrtle Beach, but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid park, it was Pelicans Grounds."
After the game, his manager elaborated on the center fielder's improvements, saying Bibriesca spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball.
"That's what I'm trying to do," Bibriesca said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
Francisco Bibriesca singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Scott Skinner in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This year, Bibriesca is hitting at a .471 pace with 2 home runs and 8 RBIs. He has played in 8 games and scored 7 times.

Cadena Superb Against Fayetteville
Friday, July 17th , 2026
The Fayetteville Woodpeckers manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Augusta GreenJackets. The Woodpeckers were overpowered by Augusta starter Victor Cadena, who hurled his club to victory, 10-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Colby Allen said.
Over 9 innings, Cadena blanked Fayetteville on 4 hits with 1 walk and 9 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Cadena said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."

Dixon 5-for-5 Against Lynchburg
Tuesday, July 14th , 2026
The Lynchburg Hillcats downed the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, 5-3, at Lynchburg Grounds, in spite of the best efforts of Kannapolis left fielder Jaden Dixon. Dixon lashed the ball all over the park in a 5-hit explosion, finishing with a 5-for-5 line -- and a loss.
"I don't remember a better day batting, but it sure is disappointing to lose the game," he said to BNN reporters in the postgame interview. "A win would have made the day much sweeter."
Asked if he would adjust his strategy next time the Hillcats face Dixon, Lynchburg manager Travis Rosado said "absolutely not."
"Our strategy was to not give him good pitches to hit," he said. "We didn't do that, and he worked us over. Thankfully, we won anyway, and next time we'll pitch to him better."
Jaden Dixon singled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Dixon is hitting .327 this year with 2 home runs and 12 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .368, 6 walks and scored 17 times.
