After a 5-hit effort to lead St. Louis (DSL)'s 13-8 victory over the Tampa Bay (DSL) Rays 2, first baseman Dan Neveu told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Dominican Rookie League-level is really something special."

The 21-year-old player earned his accolades at Rays 2 Park with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Rays 2.

"His swing is getting there," said Cardinals Blue skipper Dustin Garelli, who spoke glowingly of Neveu after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Dan did that to perfection."

Dan Neveu singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Miguel Godinez in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, walked in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Danny Pereira in the 9th.

This year, Neveu is batting .355 with 12 home runs and 38 RBIs.
