5 Hits for Rangers 1 Bontempi Friday, August 29th , 2025 After his 5-hit effort at Nationals Park was tarnished by Texas (DSL)'s 5-1 loss to the Washington (DSL) Nationals, second baseman Fausto Bontempi told BNN beat writers it was "a missed opportunity for a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "I would have been happy to stop there if it meant we got a win." He didn't get the win, but the 21-year-old had a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Nationals. "His swing is getting there," said Rangers 1 skipper Pat Malone after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Fausto did that to perfection and we wasted it." Fausto Bontempi singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. This year, Bontempi is batting .271 with 23 hits and 3 home runs. He has scored 8 times and has batted in 11 runs. |
