Mariners Pitching Ravaged by Cates Wednesday, June 18th , 2025 Mike Cates exploded for a barrage of base hits at Diamondbacks 2 Park. The Arizona (DSL) third baseman had a field day in his team's 8-6 triumph over the Seattle (DSL) Mariners, finishing 5-for-5. "My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Cates must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Mike Cates singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. This year, Cates is hitting .519 with 1 home run and 7 RBIs in 7 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .567 with 3 walks and 4 runs scored. |
