Marin Slaps 5 Hits

It was a good day for the Blue Wahoos at Barons Grounds as they clipped the Birmingham Barons, 9-1. It was tremendous day for Manny Marin, who was on a hitting barrage at the plate, finishing 5-for-5.
"I don't know what to call that," the Pensacola first baseman told reporters after his big performance. "I'm not 'dialed in' or 'in a zone,' I just try to keep it simple. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then I hit it. Today I picked up the spin pretty well."
Manny Marin singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Alex Castrejon in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Rory Pond in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
So far this season, Marin has 7 home runs and a .331 batting average.

Big Day with Bat: Esquivel 5-for-6

Guadalupe Esquivel was sizzling at the plate. In a game played at Lookouts Field, the Chattanooga third baseman blistered the Biloxi Shuckers for 5 hits in 6 at-bats to pace his club to a good 15-6 victory.
"Esquivel was too tough to get out," Shuckers skipper Matt Kelley said in his postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."
Guadalupe Esquivel singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and flied out in the 7th.
This season, Esquivel is hitting .293 with 6 home runs.
