League Suspends Shultz 2 Games
Wednesday, April 9th , 2025
Seattle Mariners first baseman Jay Shultz was suspended 2 games by the league commissioner today, a day after arguing his ejection during a game against the Colorado Rockies.
"I think the 2 games are a little harsh," Shultz said.
He was ejected by plate umpire for arguing balls and strikes.
After his ejection, Shultz went into the dugout, then came back on the field, argued with the umpire and had to be restrained by coaches and teammates. The suspension was issued for "unbecoming conduct and returning to the field of play after being dismissed."
Thus far this year, Shultz is batting .163 with 1 home run, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
