Great Day for Williams, Hits for Cycle
Sunday, May 3rd , 2026
It is rare for players to collect a single, double, triple and home run in one game, so it's a special moment when it happens.
Jason Williams savored such a moment, going 5-for-6 and hitting for the cycle against the New York Yankees. Unfortunately for Williams, that was all he could savor, as his Cleveland Guardians lost the contest by a score of 7-6.
After the game, the first baseman was in no mood to talk about the hitting feat, calling it "pointless trivia."
"Nobody cares if I went 0-for-6 or 1-for-6 or 5-for-6," Williams said. "7-6. That's the only line anyone around here cares about today."
Jason Williams tripled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Sergio Ramirez in the 4th, singled in the 6th, flied out in the 8th and hit a two-run double in the 9th.
For the season, Williams has produced 29 hits in 103 at-bats for a .282 average with 1 home run and gotten on base at a .318 clip.
