Chicago, Kansas City Swap Players Wednesday, January 21st , 2026 The Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Royals have put the finishing touches on a deal that was weeks in the making. Chicago will part with 19-year old minor league RHP Rob Moore and 18-year old minor league 1B Pablo Garza, while the Royals have dealt 37-year old RHP Franklin Labrador and $690,000 in cash. "This one took a while to figure out," said Chicago general manager Dave Latimer. "We must have gone back to the drawing board five or six times over the past few weeks. I'm glad we finally got the deal done. I think it is a good one for both clubs." Kansas City will retain a portion of Labrador's remaining contract. Labrador has 38 career saves with a 5-4 record and a 2.13 ERA. |
