Diamondbacks-White Sox Deal: Lopez for Smith Thursday, July 31st , 2025 It likely won't turn either team into an instant contender or provide a huge franchise shakeup, but the Arizona Diamondbacks and Chicago White Sox finalized a trade today. Arizona will send 24-year old minor league RF Manny Lopez to the White Sox, while the Diamondbacks will receive 33-year old RHP Josh Smith. "We think this is a deal that will help out both teams and we're glad to get it done," Diamondbacks general manager Jonathan Rosenthal said. The trade is expected to be officially completed later today with the players joining their new ballclubs by the end of the day. So far this season, Smith has logged a 8-6 record with a 5.47 ERA. He has started 18 games, hurled 103.2 innings and registered 92 strikeouts and 31 walks. |
