Royals, Astros Swap Players Sunday, July 27th , 2025 You can't always get what you want, but sometimes you find a deal anyway. The Baseball News Network is reporting that Kansas City and Houston have made a swap with 33-year old RHP William Gomez being shipped to the Astros and in return the Royals would get 20-year old minor league LF Austin Gunther and 24-year old minor league 3B Dusty Dellinger. Kansas City general manager Craig Fels said the two sides were close to a blockbuster trade before agreeing upon a smaller scale transaction. "This is just a bit of housekeeping compared to what we wanted to do," he said. "I won't name names, but the potential deal we were close to making would have certainly grabbed some headlines." A source inside the Kansas City organization said the two sides might not be done dealing, and another transaction could be in the works. This year, Gomez has 39 relief appearances, saving 1. His record is 2-3 with 51 strikeouts in 47.1 innings and a 3.04 ERA. |
