Spears Raps Daytona for 5 Hits Tuesday, May 13th , 2025 It seemed that Bradenton second baseman Steve Spears could do no wrong as the Marauders KO'd the Tortugas, 3-2. Spears rapped out 5 hits in 6 at-bats and seemed to know which pitches Tortugas hurlers were throwing. "I think the Marauders were stealing signs," growled one unhappy Daytona fan after the game. "I felt good. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," said the jubilant Spears in the postgame press interview. Steve Spears singled in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and hit an RBI single in the 11th. Thus far this year, Spears is hitting .431 with 1 home run, 5 RBIs and 8 runs scored. |
