Big Day for Hare: Swats 5 Hits
Thursday, April 30th , 2026
After a 5-hit effort to lead Jupiter's 11-3 victory over the St. Lucie Mets, first baseman Toby Hare told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Florida State League-level is really something special."
The 21-year-old player earned his accolades at Citi Field with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Mets.
"His swing is getting there," said Hammerheads skipper Nate Lockwood, who spoke glowingly of Hare after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Toby did that to perfection."
Toby Hare hit a solo-shot off Jayden Hauer in the 2nd, tripled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Jorge Zaragoza in the 6th, singled in the 8th and struck out in the 9th.
This season, Hare is swinging the bat at a .348 rate with 16 hits in 46 at-bats. To date he has hit 2 home runs, scored 7 runs and driven in 5.
