Big Day for Alvarado: Swats 5 Hits Sunday, August 17th , 2025 After his 5-hit effort at Dust Devils Field was tarnished by Spokane's 10-8 loss to the Tri-City Dust Devils, center fielder Steve Alvarado told BNN beat writers it was "a missed opportunity for a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "I would have been happy to stop there if it meant we got a win." He didn't get the win, but the 24-year-old had a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Dust Devils. "His swing is getting there," said Indians skipper Garrett Bray after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Steve did that to perfection and we wasted it." Steve Alvarado singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Marty Guajardo in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th. To date Alvarado has chalked up a .316 average with 3 home runs, driven in 25 runs and scored 25 times. |
