Big Day with Bat: Wilson 5-for-5 Saturday, June 7th , 2025 Even as a kid, Matt Wilson said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Hillsboro Grounds, Wilson showed how well he learned that lesson. The 22-year-old second baseman had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Hillsboro Hops, helping his team knock off the Tri-City Dust Devils by a score of 8-1. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did." Matt Wilson hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and singled in the 8th. Currently Wilson is batting .403 with 48 hits and 2 home runs. He has knocked in 14 runs and scored 13 times. |
