Tourists Cortes Smacks 5 Hits Monday, August 18th , 2025 It was a parade of hits for Jose Cortes of the Asheville Tourists at Tourists Grove. Connecting almost every time he went to the plate, Cortes finished the day with a total of 5 hits in 5 at-bats. His strong individual effort propelled the Tourists to a win, 19-7. "Cortes was really good and we were really bad," groaned Braves manager Silas Reagan. "Next time he's that hot, we'll just walk him." Jose Cortes walked in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run triple in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Andy Farrington in the 7th. Thus far in 2025, Cortes is hitting .304 with 7 home runs, 27 RBIs, 38 runs scored and has compiled a .360 OBP. |
