Cortes Collects Cycle Monday, August 18th , 2025 Finishing with 5 hits is a great day for any player, but Jose Cortes made it even more special by hitting for the cycle at Tourists Grove. Cortes had 1 single, 2 doubles, 1 triple and 1 home run for the Asheville Tourists and led them to a win, 19-7, over the Rome Braves. The third baseman also finished with 4 runs scored and 5 runs batted in. "Awesome," Cortes said when asked how the accomplishment felt. Jose Cortes walked in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run triple in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Andy Farrington in the 7th. Looking at his present stats, Cortes has compiled a .304 batting average in 55 games with a .360 on-base percentage, while hitting 7 home runs and driving in 27 runs. |
