Monterroso Cracks 5 Hits
Tuesday, June 10th , 2025
The Greenville Drive stopped the Jersey Shore BlueClaws by a score of 19-4 at Drive Park, with the lion's share of the credit going to left fielder Antonio Monterroso. The 20-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Monterroso said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Monterroso did just that in his 6 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the BlueClaws.
"Not much that I can say," offered Jersey Shore manager Micol Patras. "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Antonio Monterroso hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Humberto Velasquez in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
Monterroso is batting .386 this season in 22 games with 1 home run, 16 RBIs and 13 runs scored. He has 34 hits in 88 at-bats.
