Almazo Goes on Rampage Against Dragons Thursday, June 5th , 2025 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Jose Almazo, it came around today. The 17-year-old third baseman scattered hits all over Lansing Stadium to pace the 7-6 Lansing Lugnuts victory over the Dayton Dragons. Dayton skipper Kyle Arbogast told reporters in the press room that "Almazo deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Almazo hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." Jose Almazo doubled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Kyle Knight in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 9th. So far this season, Almazo is batting .351 with 9 home runs. |
