Colon Gets 5 Hits
Friday, May 23rd , 2025
After a 5-hit effort to lead Binghamton's 13-0 victory over the Harrisburg Senators, right fielder David Colon told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Eastern League-level is really something special."
The 23-year-old player earned his accolades at Harrisburg Grounds with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Senators.
"His swing is getting there," said Rumble Ponies skipper Alex Castillo, who spoke glowingly of Colon after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. David did that to perfection."
David Colon singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Ricardo Dorado in the 5th, singled in the 7th, walked in the 8th and hit a two-run double in the 9th.
In 15 games Colon is hitting .397 this season with 23 hits, 3 home runs, 12 RBIs, 5 walks, .444 OBP and has scored 10 runs.
