5-Hit Blitz by Wheat Saturday, May 3rd , 2025 Even as a kid, Aaron Wheat said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Fightin Phils Stadium, Wheat showed how well he learned that lesson. The 22-year-old third baseman had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Hartford Yard Goats, helping his team knock off the Reading Fightin Phils by a score of 14-6. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did." Aaron Wheat singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th. Wheat is currently batting .373 with no home runs, 11 runs scored and 10 RBIs. His OBP is .466. |
