Hit Parade: Atkins Pops 5 Hits Wednesday, April 15th , 2026 After his 5-hit effort at Fightin Phils Stadium was tarnished by Hartford's 7-6 loss to the Reading Fightin Phils, catcher Tommy Atkins told BNN beat writers it was "a missed opportunity for a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "I would have been happy to stop there if it meant we got a win." He didn't get the win, but the 26-year-old had a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Fightin Phils. "His swing is getting there," said Yard Goats skipper Eric Floyd after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Tommy did that to perfection and we wasted it." Tommy Atkins grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, doubled in the 9th and hit an RBI single in the 11th. Thus far this year, Atkins has hit .444 with no home runs and 4 RBIs. |
