Derryberry Bangs Out 5 Base Hits
Friday, May 8th , 2026
There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.
Ben Derryberry is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-5 against the Nashville Sounds at Louisville Grounds. The monster effort from the 22-year-old first baseman helped the Louisville Bats get the win, 7-2.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Sounds manager Mike Campbell. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."
Ben Derryberry singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
During the current season Derryberry is batting at a .390 clip with 5 home runs and 12 RBIs. He has played in 26 games and scored 15 times.
