Robles on Fire: 5-for-6 for Indianapolis Saturday, August 30th , 2025 A jubilant Jose Robles joined the postgame press conference at Citi Field to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Syracuse Mets pitching staff he had just vanquished. "It may not have looked like it," said the Indianapolis Indians left fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different." That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-6 hitting performance, which led to the 17-4 Indians win. "He made it look easy," said Steve Bonardi, manager of the Mets. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously." Jose Robles singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and singled in the 8th. So far this year, Robles is batting .345 with no home runs, 4 RBIs and 5 runs scored. |
