Super Swinger -- Benavidez Slams 5 Hits Wednesday, August 20th , 2025 After a 5-hit effort to lead Indianapolis's 9-2 victory over the Rochester Red Wings, center fielder Eddie Benavidez told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the International League-level is really something special." The 22-year-old player earned his accolades at Indians Grove with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Red Wings. "His swing is getting there," said Indians skipper Elijah White, who spoke glowingly of Benavidez after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Eddie did that to perfection." Eddie Benavidez singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off David Sullivan in the 7th. This season, Benavidez has hit at a .312 clip with 89 RBIs, 18 home runs and 69 runs scored. He has played in 111 games. |
