Big Day with Bat: Klein 5-for-5
Sunday, August 17th , 2025
After a 5-hit effort to lead Gwinnett's 8-1 victory over the Rochester Red Wings, first baseman Scott Klein told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the International League-level is really something special."
The 22-year-old player earned his accolades at Rochester Stadium with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Red Wings.
"His swing is getting there," said Stripers skipper Mike Johnson, who spoke glowingly of Klein after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Scott did that to perfection."
Scott Klein singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
This year, Klein is hitting .272 with 16 home runs and 58 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .352 clip and scored 55 runs.
