Big Bang! 3 HR for Indianapolis's Budge
Saturday, July 19th , 2025
His swing was a thing of beauty. Three times Josh Budge swung the bat and three times he delivered a home run. It was an awesome sight to behold at Saints Grove, but to no avail, for as good as he was, the St. Paul Saints were better.
The Indianapolis Indians couldn't capitalize on the big game from Budge and dropped the contest, 7-6.
The mood in the Indians clubhouse afterward was subdued, with several players remarking that they had allowed the Saints to spoil the day for Budge.
"Some of the boys are beating themselves up about it," Indianapolis manager Elijah White said. "They know we win as a team and lose as a team, but it's hard to really put that idea into practice on a day when one of you was playing on such an obviously higher level."
In addition to the homers, Budge collected 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," the Indianapolis right fielder told reporters. "Today I was in a groove. Tomorrow I could just pop the same pitches up and go 0-for-3."
Josh Budge hit a solo-shot off Ethan Preston in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Ethan Preston in the 2nd, singled in the 4th and hit a solo-shot off Ethan Preston in the 7th.
For the year, Budge is batting .295 with 5 home runs.
