Red Sox Handle River Hills, Snag 7-2 Win
|
The Boston Red Sox beat the River Hills Rockets, 7-2, at Fenway Park. Boston second baseman Phil Walker had the hot bat. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Boston reliever Toby Payan picked up the win, upping his record to 5-0. Mel Flores was saddled with the loss. Today's win puts Boston at 29-35, while River Hills falls to 19-44.
Boston took a 4-1 lead on Walker's 4th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Mel Flores in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Boston to the win.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Walker.
