|
New York Yankees starter Paul Scott pitched a strong game against the Lake Wylie Renegades at Yankee Stadium, leading the Yankees to victory, 3-2. Scott, now 3-3, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 4, and allowing 2 runs. The save went to Manuel Benitez, number 6 for him.
The Yankees got a big at-bat from right fielder Ryan Kowal. For the game, Kowal was 1-3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave New York a 3-1 lead.
"We take it day by day here," said Kowal, "and today was a good one for us."
The Yankees now have a record of 21-24 with the win over Lake Wylie.
