The New York Mets defeated the Lake Wylie Renegades, 5-3. First Baseman Johnny Filkins deserved a large share of the credit. Filkins was 1-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Mets. Steve Clark, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 11th save. With the win over Lake Wylie, the Mets improved to 18-25.

Filkins had an important at-bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth, when he drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Mets went on to win.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Filkins, "one at-bat at a time."
