Nationals 6-4 Winners Versus River Hills
|
River Hills got a decent performance from pitcher Mel Flores, but it wasn't enough to beat the Washington Nationals. Washington won the Nationals Park contest, 6-4. Flores threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. By defeating River Hills, the third-place Nationals improved to 55-62.
The Nationals got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Javy Gomez. For the game, Gomez was 1 for 1 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 12th double of the season gave Washington a 5-4 lead.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Gomez.
