Mets Score Late to Nip Rockets, 3-2

The New York Mets earned a close win over the River Hills Rockets, thanks in part to Jose Delgado. The New York right-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the NL with a 2.63 ERA, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. New York reliever Kevin Bergeron picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Eric Laginess absorbed the loss. The Mets now have a record of 38-33 with the win over River Hills.
Jeremy Root was the walk-off hero for New York. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mets left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"This place sure got loud," said Robert Erwin, the New York manager.
