Super Swinger -- Lawrence Slams 5 Hits Sunday, July 12th , 2026 After a 5-hit effort to lead Colorado (DSL)'s 14-3 victory over the San Francisco (DSL) Giants 2, shortstop B.J. Lawrence told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Dominican Rookie League-level is really something special." The 19-year-old player earned his accolades at Giants 2 Field with a spectacular 5-for-7 game against the Giants 2. "His swing is getting there," said Rockies 1 skipper Dennis Rhine, who spoke glowingly of Lawrence after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. B.J. did that to perfection." B.J. Lawrence singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th, singled in the 7th and struck out in the 9th. So far this year, Lawrence is batting .342 with no home runs, 4 RBIs and 13 runs scored. |
