Gilbert Slams 7 Hits for Boston (DSL) Saturday, July 11th , 2026 Dave Gilbert knows as well as anyone that in baseball, the biggest contracts go to the biggest hitters. At Red Sox 2 Park, he made his case to be considered among that group. The 20-year-old first baseman hammered 7 hits in 7 chances, though the remarkable effort came even as his Boston (DSL) Red Sox 2 fell, 21-16, to the Chicago N (DSL) Cubs 2. "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," Cubs 2 manager Dustin Norem told BNN sportswriters after the game. "Thankfully, we were able to do enough elsewhere that Gilbert wasn't the difference." Dave Gilbert hit a two-run home run off Juan Tellez in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 6th, singled in the 7th, doubled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. This season, Gilbert is batting .600 with 24 hits, 4 home runs, 16 RBIs, 3 walks, .628 OBP and has scored 11 runs. He has played in 12 games. |
