Moonshots: Haight Knocks 4 out of Sight Thursday, July 2nd , 2026 Nothing could stop Matt Haight -- certainly not the Boston (DSL) Red Sox 1 pitching staff. The 18-year-old left fielder for the Kansas City (DSL) Royals 2 sent 4 baseballs soaring out of Kansas City (DSL) Grounds and made his name a part of history. Behind his barrage, the Royals 2 earned a win, 14-11, over the Red Sox 1. "In the standings, a loss is just a loss, but this one was frustrating," Red Sox 1 manager Sean Self said later. "He clobbered us." Haight's dream game included 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 4 homers, 8 runs driven in and 4 runs scored. "I know all the stories are going to be about me today, and that's OK," Haight told the press in the locker room after the game. "Next time, it'll be one of the other guys." Matt Haight hit a two-run home run off Danny Lopez in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Danny Lopez in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Ricky Sanchez in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Andres Belmares in the 8th. Thus far this year, Haight has hit .338 with 7 home runs and 19 RBIs. |
