Atkinson Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits Sunday, June 28th , 2026 It was a sensational day at the plate for Chris Atkinson as he led the charge to a nifty 23-15 win over the Red Sox 2. The Los Angeles (DSL) third baseman was pure misery for the Boston (DSL) pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 7 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting. "Atkinson put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Paul Hurt, manager for the Red Sox 2, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball." Chris Atkinson hit a three-run home run off Oscar Vega in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Mark Corless in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. A look at his current stats shows Atkinson with a .375 average, 7 home runs, 17 RBIs and 15 runs scored. He has played in 15 games. |
