Salinas Socks It to Marlins, Cracks 6 Hits

After a 6-hit effort to lead Colorado (DSL)'s 22-1 victory over the Miami (DSL) Marlins, center fielder Edwin Salinas told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Dominican Rookie League-level is really something special."

The 21-year-old player earned his accolades at LoanDepot Park with a spectacular 6-for-7 game against the Marlins.

"His swing is getting there," said Rockies 1 skipper Dennis Rhine, who spoke glowingly of Salinas after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Edwin did that to perfection."

Edwin Salinas singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Mario Cordero in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, doubled in the 9th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
