It's Over! Greenville Defeats Brooklyn Thursday, September 17th , 2026 The Greenville Drive earned their 2nd Round 1 title and now have all winter to spend basking in the glory, while the beaten Brooklyn Cyclones will have plenty of time to wonder what went wrong. Greenville became the South Atlantic League champion for 2026 with a 10-4 triumph to capture the series 4-1. "Both clubs are talented. We just made fewer mistakes than they did," winning manager Robby Riggle said to the press corps at the postgame press conference. "We made the crucial plays and got the timely hits." Brooklyn skipper Ryan Temple agreed with that assessment, saying his club turned out to be "a little weak on fundamentals" at crucial times. "I have a sneaking suspicion we will be working on fundamentals a lot next spring," he said. On the way to the Round 1 championship, the Drive ended up in first place in the Southern Division and compiled a 92-48 record during the regular season. |
