Washington (FCL) Halts Vaughn's Hitting Steak
Wednesday, July 23rd , 2025
Pittsburgh (FCL) center fielder Jon Vaughn came into today's game against the Washington (FCL) Nationals on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Nationals did their jobs well, beating the Pittsburgh (FCL) Pirates Black, 14-4, and holding Vaughn hitless to snap his 24-game hitting streak. The 18-year-old center fielder had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-2, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Jon did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Pirates Black manager Jose Romero. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 24 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
This season, Vaughn has hit at a .339 clip with 8 RBIs, 4 home runs and 17 runs scored.
