Hoover 5-for-6 for Fireflies Saturday, May 9th , 2026 It was a sensational day at the plate for Josh Hoover as he led the charge to a nifty 12-2 win over the Mudcats. The Columbia catcher was pure misery for the Carolina pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 6 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting. "Hoover put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Steve Peterman, manager for the Mudcats, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball." Josh Hoover doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Andy Cole in the 7th and doubled in the 9th. Hoover is hitting .292 this year with 4 home runs and 21 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .343, 8 walks and scored 11 times. |
