Smith 5-for-6 for Salem Monday, September 8th , 2025 It was a hits blitz for Daniel Smith at Lynchburg Grounds. The Salem Red Sox right fielder tore into the Lynchburg Hillcats for 5 hits in 6 at-bats, but it wasn't enough to win the game. The Hillcats swept past the Red Sox, 10-5, to ruin Smith's day. "We weren't locating our pitches well," Salem manager Savion Ellis explained after the game. "Once you get behind in the count, you have to make really good pitches, rather than pretty good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today. Getting 5 hits from Daniel was nice but it wasn't enough." Daniel Smith singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and flied out in the 9th. This year, Smith has hit at a .364 clip with 88 hits, 10 home runs, 44 RBIs and 40 runs scored. |
