Augusta-Columbia Fight Results in Suspensions
Friday, August 1st , 2025
If there wasn't a history between Jonathan Kinder of Augusta and Ernie Whitmore of Columbia, then there is one now. The incident between the two sparked a bench-clearing scrum with those two being the center of attention. Now they will miss 4 and 9 games respectively as a result of their actions. The league office announced their suspensions today.
"We're both really competitive," Kinder said later, "and sometimes things go a little too far because of it."
This season, Kinder has delivered 12 hits in 37 at-bats for a .324 average with 1 home run. He is getting on base at a .422 clip and his totals also include 7 RBIs and 6 runs scored. This year Kinder has played in 15 games.
Whitmore has taken the mound for 3 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 0-2 record with a 8.76 ERA. The Columbia reliever has limited opposing batters to a .367 batting average.
