Patlan Slaps 5 Hits Monday, July 28th , 2025 Speaking with reporters after a dominating hitting performance, Leon Patlan said his club's tilt with the Carolina Mudcats "felt almost like batting practice." The 23-year-old catcher went a remarkable 5-for-5 at the plate. "I saw the ball well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted," he recalled later. However, his sensational day wasn't enough for the Augusta GreenJackets, who were topped by the Mudcats, 12-7. "It's a good lesson for him, I guess," GreenJackets manager Gabe Hardy said. "Sometimes Leon is going to lose. But I would rather him go 5-for-5 and lose than go 0-for-5 and lose." Leon Patlan hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Raul Gonzales in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. This season, Patlan is hitting .308 with 66 hits, 14 home runs, 52 RBIs, scored 35 runs and played in 68 games. |
