Smokies Pitching Ravaged by Rodriguez Friday, June 6th , 2025 Pedro Rodriguez was at the head of a Biloxi hit parade at Smokies Grounds. The shortstop went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Shuckers to a nice 18-9 victory over the Tennessee Smokies. "I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Rodriguez told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today." Smokies skipper Ricardo Metzger said later that the club gave up "too much plate." "Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that." Pedro Rodriguez hit an RBI triple in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, hit a two-run home run off Steve Chavez in the 8th and hit a two-run single in the 9th. This season in 50 games, Rodriguez has hit at a .270 clip with 41 hits, 6 home runs, 30 RBIs and 21 runs scored. |
