5-Hit Game for Bautista
Sunday, July 12th , 2026
Chicago N (ACL) Cubs catcher Humberto Bautista had a day to remember at Great American Ball Park, ripping apart the Cincinnati(ACL) Reds and sparking the 10-3 Cubs win.
Bautista wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-6.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Bautista told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Humberto Bautista hit a two-run double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Felix Valenzuela in the 6th, struck out in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
