American League's Best Batter Announced Monday, July 13th , 2026 When it came to hitting the baseball, David Simpson was in a class by himself in the American League this past week. Nobody did it better. The outstanding first baseman for Minnesota tagged opposing pitchers for a .556 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award.
