A Day for the Record Books: Simpson Hits 4 HR
Friday, July 10th , 2026
Minnesota Twins first baseman David Simpson totally decimated the Cleveland Guardians, finishing with 4 home runs in his team's 18-8 win.
The Guardians had no answer for Simpson, who finished the day 4-for-4 with 8 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
"What can I say? My guys could've shot the ball out of a rifle and he'd probably hit them out anyway," said Cleveland skipper Reggie Jolly. "There's nothing you can do when a guy gets in that kind of zone, you just hope he cools down some before you have to face him again."
When asked about his record performance, Simpson responded, "After the first two I just tried to do everything the same way and it worked."
David Simpson hit a three-run home run off Kyle Putman in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Kyle Putman in the 2nd, was hit by a pitch in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Kevin McQuillan in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Heriberto Espinoza in the 7th.
Simpson is currently batting .289 with 18 home runs, 56 RBIs and 62 runs scored. He has 86 hits in 298 at-bats.
