New York-Atlanta Fight Results in Suspensions
Sunday, June 28th , 2026
Yesterday at Truist Park Andres Sanchez and Rick Woods got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.

Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Sanchez will have to sit out 3 while Woods would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.

Sanchez is currently hitting .241 with 3 home runsand 23 RBIs, while scoring 21 runs.

Woods has taken the mound for 6 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 0-0 record with a 2.00 ERA. The Atlanta reliever has limited opposing batters to a .188 batting average.
