Raines Tags Sounds for 5 Hits Thursday, July 16th , 2026 A jubilant Jason Raines joined the postgame press conference at Sounds Grounds to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Nashville Sounds pitching staff he had just vanquished. "It may not have looked like it," said the Charlotte Knights catcher, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different." That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-6 hitting performance, which led to the 5-4 Knights win. "He made it look easy," said Mike Campbell, manager of the Sounds. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously." Jason Raines singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, doubled in the 8th, singled in the 9th and hit a two-run double in the 11th. In his season totals Raines has 5 home runs and a .265 batting average. |
