Diaz Torches RailRiders for 5 Hits
Wednesday, July 15th , 2026
Even as a kid, Heriberto Diaz said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Toledo Grounds, Diaz showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 24-year-old center fielder had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Toledo Mud Hens, helping his team knock off the Scranton WB RailRiders by a score of 5-4.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did."
Heriberto Diaz singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Orlando Rivera in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Yoshimitsu Yoshihara in the 9th.
Thus far this year, Diaz is batting .298 with 5 home runs, 21 RBIs and 15 runs scored.
